01.20 - 01.21.1562 Founder's Reckoning
The group arrives in Albyone and gets a room in the Warry Traivlur Inn. Horace makes sure that nobody is paying too much attention to them and notices a leather-clad, dangerous looking guy watching them from across the room. Horace uses magic to try to distract the guy, instead drawing his direct attention.
The rest of the group (minus Horace and Sedge) sequesters themselves in a suite and argue about the best way to contact Princess Alysanne's family. Alysanne insists on sending Jasper with a letter for her brother Leighton. Eventually, Ali agrees to the exchange, provided that Xandessa tag along to keep an eye on Jasper.
Horace and Sedge are approached by the dangerous looking man. He introduces himself as "Jackal" and offers some cryptic hints about the Fell Brotherhood, a group of sorcerers in Angland. Horace accompanies him to a clubhouse of sorts, built into a cave in the limestone cliffs along the sea. The cave is furnished as a safehouse and located past the charcoal burners and tanneries of Albyone. On leaving the safehouse, Horace and Jackal are attacked by three men wearing dark cloaks and black masks. Jackal yanks them both off the cliff face, avoiding the crossbows, and somehow fortifies Horace against the otherwise deadly landing in the sea. Horace washes ashore later and meets a friendly cobbler who feeds him, cleans his clothes, and lets Horace warm himself by the fire. Before sending him on his way, he bids Horace to "Du guid een riturn".
Meanwhile, Xandessa and Jasper meet with disaster while trying to deliver the message. They try to convince the butler to admit them to the (well fortified) house so that they can give the letter directly to Leighton. The butler refused, offering to pass the letter on. Jasper declares that the letter is from Alysanne, which ends negotiations immediately. Xandessa tries to force her way into the house, only to see guards rushing to the butler's aid. Jasper runs away, leaving Xandessa to make her way back to the Warry Traivlur alone.
Eriola and Ali spend the time antagonizing the Princess.
