Priesthood Of Ysaeniver

The Priesthood of Ysaeniver forms one of the three major ruling bodies of Caryadis. The worship of Ysaeniver is compulsory. The Priesthood maintains that many foreign dieties are actually bastardized aspects of Ysaeniver, though salvation can only be earned through the rightous and proper worship of Ysaeniver. Many other gods and goddesses are simply false.

Note: Heresy in Caryadis carries the death sentence. There are, nonetheless, a number of underground cults that have varying degrees of power in Caryadis. Some of these worship the dieties of other nations, or pay more homage to them than is strictly allowed. A few are unique to Caryadis. Among these are the Cult of the Dragon, the Keepers, and the Brotherhood of Olkan.

The Book of Ysaeniver:

Creation In the beginning, there was formless chaos, Ysaeniver looked into the face of chaos and named it "Nusque", the void. Into the Book of Ysaeniver, the name was written and so it was. Ysaeniver gathered the void to his lips and breathed words into it and each word became the world and was recorded into the Book.

Note: The first hundred pages or so of the Book of Ysaeniver contain only words, starting with "Nusque", proceeding through elements, objects, forms, verbs, and through plants, animals, etc. Basically, a glorified dictionary. There are several hundred pages of appendices containing thousands more words, added over the centuries.

...

And the first people were thus created and given the name of "Rya'di". Unto them it was decreed that all that came to pass should be recorded in the Book, for the glory of Yseaniver.

Exodus

Following the creation of the Rya'di, they are cast adrift, searching for a homeland. Exodus chronicles the arrival of the Rya'di on the shores of the Gulf of Thyresh almost 6000 years ago.
