I love it when I'm proven right! Having seen AAM several times over the past four years or so, I've always known how great they'd sound on record. This debut [Impatiens] did not disappoint. 12 songs spanning various periods/moods and 2 live tracks from The Rivoli in 1992, including "Stains", which, in its newly written form is my favourite song here. I can quite sincerely declare it better than The Sundays/Cranberries, so let's hope it gets as much air play! This music nicely fills the gap between doting melancholy and la la la cheer. You've got well crafted pop songs laced with a tinge of bittersweet lyrics, not simply sung but emoted. There are moments when you've just emerged from despondency, but aren't quite ready to accept happiness. Impatiens will get you through.
