Miscellaneous New Tracks
Here are some recent tracks on which I've been working. Some of them are
pretty rough, but they get the general idea across. Some of these may end
up on my next solo album, Reset Vector: Colorburn

The Canister Remix Project
Before each disbanding, Many Small Functions was to remix a bunch of
Canister tracks from the Blame album. We had each
worked on several mixes on our own, but no group project ever emerged.
Here are a couple of unfinished but listenable remixes that I did.

Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love
I wrote the following songs for
MW Rep's production of
Brad Fraser's Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature
of Love in early 1998. They're fairly simple, short acoustic
guitar tracks.

in abstentia
CD tray cover graphics
in abstentia is an album of my solo musical output from various
points from the middle of and after my college years (1995-1997).
It is not of a single genre, so watch your step. I gave approximately
10 copies of this CD to friends, but it was mainly a personal project
to chronicle my progress as a musician. I've put up some of the
tracks here. Audio quality varies, as many of these songs were quick
one-off's I recorded hastily. It was also before I had a digital
studio at home to do recording. I've also severely reduced the
MP3 encoder bandwidth and sampling frequency on some tracks
(especially the 9 minute ones).

| transcend |
2136KB [4:33] 64Kbit 24KHz |
Recorded in June, 1996 at 79-17 to 2-track cassette.
This track lies somewhere between stuff you might hear on the 4AD
record label and something you'd hear on a foreign independent film
soundtrack. Sequenced with Cakewalk. Sounds from TX16W sampler and
Roland U110 PCM sound module.

Recorded in October, 1995 in Founders Hall 410 to 2-track
cassette. An ambient meditation, played entirely on an
electric guitar and a few footpedal and rack effects. Recorded
live, in one take.

| to the middle |
2603KB [5:35] 64Kbit 24KHz |
Recorded in October, 1997 at tangential studios mk I to 2-track
cassette. A slow electronic track with some strange, mutilated
vocal samples from the band Canister. Mostly MC202, a PC running
Sound Forge, effects, and a Korg Wavestation.

Recorded in December, 1996 in Founders Hall 411 to 2-track
cassette. A 4ADish track, sequenced in Cakewalk. A
Yamaha TX16W sampler and a Roland U110 were used for sounds.

3,530KB [3:46] 128Kbit 44.1KHz |
Recorded in july, 1997 at tangential studios mk I to 2-track
cassette. A basic techno
track, featuring the ubiquitous TR606, MC202, Casio RZ-1, Korg
Wavestation, and lots of effects. Recorded and mixed live, in one take.

| autumnsong |
2276KB [2:26] 128Kbit 44.1KHz |
Recorded in october, 1996 in Founders Hall 411 to Tascam 8-track
cassette. Mixed down to 2-track cassette. Re-transferred to digital
format July 1999. My first somewhat complete acoustic
track. I play 2 tracks of acoustic guitar, bass, and some sampled
congas and tamborine "live" off of my TX16W sampler & keyboard.
Recorded with several overdubs.

| things lost |
[2:46] |
available on CD only. |
| mi casa es su madre |
[1:35] |
available on CD only. |
| 801SVJ (lament of the
dudecraft) |
1482KB [1:35] 128Kbit 44.1KHz |
Recorded in july, 1996 at 79-17 to 2-track cassette.
Best described as "funkafied
lounge music." This song is dedicated to 801SVJ, the ex-license plate
of Mike's ex-vehicle, an
ex-1985 Chevy Caprice Classic. Half-fried Roland TR808 samples, and
nonsensical chord structures played on a Yamaha DX-21 form the
underpinnings for badly played guitar. Dig it. Drums and keyboards
sequenced with Cakewalk, guitar played live during mixdown.

| Untitled (September
1997) |
2802KB [6:49] 56Kbit 24KHz |
Recorded in September 1997 at tangential studios mk I to 2-track
cassette. A rough take of a techno track. Uses TR606, TR707,
MC202, effects. Recorded/mixed live in one take. Previously Unreleased.
