the name of this group is wpi.forsale, not wpi.interesting.posts ... i just skip the 'magic' messages, and check the other ones out.. it's really quite easy! :)

Firstly, I would like to apologize to anyone irritated the following exchange of messages. I fully undrestand since I get annoyed by personal messages posted on public newsgroups but I'm doing so only in respose. Still no excuse - I'm very sorry.

Hello------- Michael!!!

I notice that you're a typical WPI freak. Fine!!!

You have to be pathetic enough to feel proud out of auctioning off a vast library of your Magic cards (the proud symbol of new wave geeks).

That's fine, too.

And why don't you just answer me directly but rather you'd post it through a public newsgroup - just another annoying message for everyone else.

I guess that's O.K.
But if you dare to mess with me - that ain't O.K.
So you aren't so scared, huh?
You pick the time and location and we will have a little chat.
You picked a wrong man to push, pal.

It wasn't a personal message. It was general advice, meant for consumption by anyone who cared to read it. I'll say it again:

If you aren't interested in a thread, use a kill file. It's not hard.

: I notice that you're a typical WPI freak. Fine!!!
What gives you that impression? I certainly wouldn't deny it, but I really don't believe in broad categorizations. There is no such thing as normal anymore. It's all subjective.
: You have to be pathetic enough to feel proud out of auctioning off a
: vast library of your Magic cards (the proud symbol of new wave geeks).
So making money by selling something I no longer use is pathetic, huh? If you had been paying any attention at all, you would have noticed that I auctioned off my *entire* collection because I no longer play Magic.
: And why don't you just answer me directly but rather you'd post it
: through a public newsgroup - just another annoying message for everyone else
You don't get it. It wasn't meant to be a private reply. If it had been intended as such, it would have been. Get a grip.
: But if you dare to mess with me - that ain't O.K.

Who says I'm messing with you? I merely made fun of your inane attempt at macho bravado. If you have to respond with threats of physical violence because you're afraid of having your opinions criticized, that's your problem.

Yes, I think you are... Does 'kill file' mean anything to you? If you don't want to read about his cards, then move on to the next thread... You're probably just jealous he's making so much $ with it anyways.

I don't get what is pathetic about him auctioning off his cards--it makes sense to turn them into money, rather than having the sit around unused.
: And why don't you just answer me directly but rather you'd post it
: through a public newsgroup - just another annoying message for everyone else.

Since you did *exactly* the same thing you can't criticize him, can you??

That sounds like a direct threat of bodily harm. Is it?? I don't think is it wise to threaten someone like that in a very public forum. And I don't think your latest threats will scare him any more than the previous post did.

And back to the original issue--there is nothing to say that someone can't post as many 'for sale' messages in this group as they want. He *did* warn you to set up a kill file. And he posted all the updates in the same thread, rather than a new one each time. And a few updates (8? 10? don't remember) shouldn't bother you that much--it must have taken almost 1 second to ignore each post, not what I'd call a lot of time.

Annoying? There is a certain class of freaks that finds *entertainment* in this! Especially at 3 am on a Saturday morning... Sick, eh?

PS: You might learn how to quote correctly. One does not usually include the entire body of the previous message in a followup. Unless, of course, they are some peculiar type of...... freak.
