California, April 2003

Here are the pictures from my trip!

• San Diego Zoo - Grey Kitten and I went to the San Diego Zoo on my first full day in San Diego. I love this place.
• Balboa Park - On my second day, I wandered around Balboa Park, which is just south of the zoo.
• Botanical Building at Balboa Park - This is among the park's 13 museums. Plants!
• Other San Diego pictures - A few shots from around town.
• Train to LA - I took a train from San Diego to Los Angeles.
• Long Beach - I then took the subway to Long Beach, where I stayed for a few days.
• Aquarium of the Pacific - This Aquarium was walking distance from where I stayed in downtown Long Beach.
• Before Cambria - Next up, I rented a car in Long Beach and got out of LA as quickly as possible. Once I was well out of the city, I took some pictures from the coastal route.
• Cambria - I chose this little town to stay in because it was halfway between LA and SF, and because of the Bridge Street Inn, which was cute and inexpensive. I chose well.
• Hearst "Castle" - I stopped just north of Cambria to visit the Hearst Castle. Flash photography is not allowed, so I can't show you much of the inside.
• Day Two on the Coast - In case Day One was not stunning enough, here are pictures from San Simeon (by Hearst) up north towards Monterey.
• North of San Francisco - I was pretty tired of photographing scenery by my last day, while I was staying in Oakland I did take a few pictures of the area north of San Francisco.

Why no pictures of my friends? I'm shy about taking pictures of others. So many people seem to hate to have their pictures taken that I always feel like I am imposing if I do so. I love looking at pictures of friends, and I love showing them off to others, but I always feel awkward about photographing.
