Well, Joey, back when I was just not much older'n' you, I was what we back
then called "rock stupid." I hopped up outa bed and pulled on my overalls
and went runnin' right out to that there crater to have me a look-see. Now,
that there li'l box deal was all swarming with spiky 'lectric snakes, and
every now'n'again sparks'd shoot right off and burn lil' holes in the
ground. I was walkin' careful, since I hadn't put my boots on or nothin',
but I still got a couple lil' burns on my toes. I walked right up to that
there box and took me a good close look at it, and imagine my surprise
when what should I see but a big red button on the side of that there box.
So, bein' the bright young scout I was, I reached my hand right out and gave
it a push.

Right then'n'there, that box deal started unfoldin' out from itself, like
one o' them Japanese paper boxes on acid. It folded right out flat like a
big carpet across the crater, and standin' right there was the most amazin'
thing I'd ever seen in my young'n'sheltered life. There was a big sorta
glass tube thing, right 'bout six feet tall'r so. It was all glowin', fulla
light and bubblin' liquid of some sort, and floatin' there, right in the
middle of all them bubbles, was a woman, all nekkid and floatin'.

I tell you, Joey, I was stunned. She was the prettiest wommin I'd ever
seen in my whole short life. And she was floatin' there, nekkid. I walked
right up to that there bubblin' glowin' tube and took me a look. She was
floatin' there, all nekkid and stuff, and I thought she was daid. Her eyes
were closed, and she wasn't movin', just sorta floatin' there, nekkid.
"Gollee!" I thunk. "A floatin' nekkid woman. She must be daid, bein' there
in that glowin' bubblin' liquid and all."

So, I stood there, watching her float, nekkid, and thinkin' about how daid
she must be, when I was just about bowled over by the second most amazin'
thing I'd ever seen in my whole short life. That there nekkid floatin'
wommin's eyes, that'd been shut so tight in that glowin' liquid, snapped
right open, like a polecat trap with the batteries in backward, and bless my
soul if she weren't looking right straight at me...
