Now, you need to keep in mind Timmy that I wasn't, and still ain't,
first-hand privy ta all the goin's on in Wall Street at the time. But, I
think that the part of the story I's about ta tell ya is purty accurate. At
least, it does a fine job of explainin' the parts that I did know about
first hand.

In the corporate offices of the Kazamomo Corporation, all hail was breakin'
loose. Vice Presidents and Executive Secertaries bustled around with
important papers and briefcases wonderin' what the hail they was gonna do
about Pa Ichy in Spashin Robo. Only one place did calm reign supreme. In
the boardroom.

In the boardroom, the Chief Executive of the Kazamomo Corporation, Mr. Lapus
Lazuli was the very picture of ease and calm. The other eight executives
sitting along the table, drew their strength from him. "Situation report,"
he said, directing a glare at the young executive standing at the far end of
the room.

"Three blocks have already been destroyed. Spashin Robo is carving a swath
of destruction headed right for us."

"Recommendation."

"I, ummm, I hesitate to, ummm"

"SPEAK!" A fist came down on the table, startling everyone else in the
room.

"Umm, I think we only have one choice, but to send out Tono-Bungay." The
man hung his head, sure that he would be cut off at the knees for the
suggestion.

To his great surprise, he was not. "You are correct, Mr. Gerund. Contact
Tanaka, tell him he has five minutes."

"Hai!" Gerund left the room.

Five minutes later, Spashin Robo had his first, but fortunately not his
last, encounter with Tono-Bungay...
