Star Patrol vs. The Moon Baron

(TBR 2008)

A hero's story begins somewhere.

Star Patrol Academy: nestled in Earth's majestic Rocky Mountains, this premier institution of higher learning attracts students from all over the Solar System, turning out a crop of officers and gentlebeings (it says so right on the commission) every year.

This year's commencement is fast approaching, when the first class will become Star Patrol's newest officers--if they survive the ceremony. Some of the System's brightest stars are in attendence every year, and this year, the sinister Moon Baron Ricart von Ruin* has decided to take advantage of that fact. Is he after ransom, or something even more diabolical?

*Name subject to change. Stop looking at me like that.

Players will take on the role of an Elder of their choice...if that Elder were an heroic member of Star Patrol, a Doc Smith-style space navy that runs on science, square chins, and derring-do. Depending on the mood of the players, the flavor of the game will either be Republic serial earnestness or slapstick comedy, but either way, expect lighthearted fun.

Nine Princes in Spaaace is run using the Spirit of the Century FATE 3.0 ruleset, with minor flavor tweaks to the rules. The milieu is not the Centurion setting, but rather a pulp sci-fi generic one, largely modeled on such scientifically-questionable universes as Republic space serials like Flash Gordon.

Queen of the Spider People

(TBR 2007, WPI Gaming Weekend, A Term 2007)

At game start, the Unicorn is cruising through the black of the Outer System, somewhere between Saturn and Uranus, and it's been a week since Captain Oberon left to "negotiate" with the lovely and treacherous Queen Arachnia of the Spider People. It's getting to be about time to go after him--but your sensors are picking up something out at the edge of the System that could be trouble. Readings are faint and uncertain at this distance, but it looks like it could be a ship out of the Draconis Cluster, home of the Imperium...and nothing good ever came from the Imperium.
