This poem was written in the aftermath of the tragic blaze in Worcester
that claimed the lives of five worcester firefighters in December of
1999. Its my tribute to heros.

Fiery Angels

Despite the odds,
Despite the peril,
I will risk the chance
To give my life
To save your life.

Unhesitating, charging into an inferno,
Choked with smoke,
Concealing my brothers,
Stricken down.

Through the black soot
Streaked with tears and fingerprints,
I'll seek you and
On these insulated wings
We'll fly away,

Together, mingled with the
Prayers and ashes.
Carried on the shoulders
Of our own kind... Angels,
Into eternal safety.
